Sharing our burdens

By Sicebise Msengana

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. "What food might this contain?" the mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap. Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said "Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."

Who cares?

Sometimes when I turn on the TV to watch the news. There's always something bad thing happening around the world. Genocides, mass rape, police brutality, corruption, racism, bigotry etc. As I witness such horrors, I'm saddened by the chilling reality of the whole world being silent. Many people have turned a blind eye to these atrocities, in fact many are afraid to speak out. Instead of  speaking out we play the "politically correctness" game.  Instead of arresting the culprits, we justify it enough by saying, "it's only the minority." Who will stand up for the rights of the oppressed? Who will speak out against the terrorism? Abortion? Crimes against humanity? Religious persecutions?

Complaining.  We too often sit by saying, "how evil and corrupt the world has become," instead of going out and making a difference. I believe the time is right for us to make a stand for our children,

What do we desire in others? As human beings we tend to design the perfect person for a particular relationship--be it a romantic, someone to play sports with, a group member, church member, whatever.  Can you think of the personality traits you'd want this person to have? Have you ever wondered why some people--perhaps even you are not having good relations with your family, partner, spouse?
Relationships share similarities  all over the world. Family ties, friendships, marriages, love-- these are relationships all human beings experience. To an extent, of course, that's true; are somewhat universal
to humankind. However, these points stand out on how to improve your relationships:
Work on the problems. Remaining in a difficult and unfulfilling relationship is not easy. Many people are quick to leave a relationship that doesn't meet their needs, and it seems easier to dissolve a marriage or leave a church or

It was a lazy Saturday of December 2008, I was fast asleep on my bed. Suddenly, I had a loud noise on  my door.''Wake up, Sicebise.'' I was dreaming about that girl again! Worse yet, I was angry because my uncle had disturbed me. As we were working he told me something remarkable. He said, ''being a man is about responsibilities.'' What does it mean to be a man? It doesn't matter which

Never Give Up No Matter What

By Sicebise Msengana

The story goes like this: during the California Gold Rush, there was a man who sold everything he had and bought a mine. He worked for many years and found nothing. Finally, being discouraged he gave up and sold it to people who lived in the East. Several years later, the new owners decided to dig the mine for gold. They found the pick where the previous owner had abandoned it. And they started to dig, and before long they found gold. They had dug only twelve inches--the previous miner had been twelve inches short of the gold!

Often we give up too soon. We give up at the first sight of failure. How many people give up on their careers, relationships, families, lives (commit suicide) too soon? I don't know what you are

Life is unfair but get used to it

Many of us will do just about anything to avoid  serious issues in this world. Its easier to pretend that everything is okay. Growing up we all knew that Prince Charming married the beautiful princess and they lived happily ever after...but in real life, there's no such thing. In fact, each day comes with a new tragedy. A newlywed couple is killed in a plane crash on their way to their honeymoon, a small kid is diagnosed with a life threatening disease dies in her mother's arms,  scores of innocent people are murdered each day, earthquakes, tornadoes and many natural disasters claim so many lives
