CAN SUBSISTENCE AGRICULTURE FEED AFRICA? I spent a week in Tsolo, South Africa, learning about types of farming methods.
Subsistence farming is self-sufficiency farming in which the farmers focus on cultivating a small plot to feed themselves and their families. But if we are to solve the "hunger" crisis in some parts of Africa and create jobs, increase crop yield and profits, commercial and industrial agriculture can be used. This involves higher inputs of labour, capital and increased crop yield. How many financiers and investors are willing to support this movement in the Eastern Cape region?
