2026 Author’s Note: Looking back at these words twelve years after writing them in 2014, I am struck by how much time alters our perspective while simultaneously deepening our core convictions. Over the past decade, the world has reshaped itself in unexpected ways, and many of us have walked through seasons of grief and uncertainty that tested our foundations to their absolute limits. Returning to this reflection today, its primary message remains completely unchanged: pain cannot be shortcutted or bypassed with easy answers, but hope—quiet, persistent, and grounded in grace—is still worth choosing.
